one of my favourite weekend things is to venture out to one of london’s markets – because there’s always something new to see and try! here are my favourite spots, in no particular order…
maltby street market
small food market that’s not yet overrun with tourists.ย comptoir gourmand patisserie make unbelievable cakes (pictured above), and bad brownie is also not a bad option if you’re still hungry ๐
brixton village
highly recommended with visitors: this is eclectic london at its best. jamaican food stalls mix with high-end coffee shops.
borough market
make sure you go early as it gets super crowded. not cheap, but totally worth it for the things you normally wouldn’t get at the supermarket, like weird mushrooms and huge tomatoes. there’s also lots of ready to eat food like raclette.
broadway market
a great hangout when the weather’s ok. sometimes there are cool bands playing random music next to the market. the hand-smoked salmon stand is amazing. while you’re there check out the hot jellied eels shop ย (see this blog post) – a blast from the past!
columbia road flower market
amazing flowers for amazing prices. only on sunday.
